This project involved the refurbishment of the existing central square at the UEA, Norwich, which was originally designed by Sir Bernard Fielden.
UEA Estates asked us to help realise their vision for the future of the square. The new work included, forming a central plaza fountain, replacing paving with feature leylines inscribed with text, creating a retaining wall which incorporates seating and a water feature and designing bespoke polished concrete external furniture. The result has rejuvenated the Square and given the opportunity to re-layer the original design with new events.
The project was taken from sketch scheme through planning to completion on site and we worked closely with the client and the rest of the professional team that resulted in a reinvigorated space at the centre of the busy University.
