PROJECT // APPLIED LEARNING CENTRE
LOCATION // AYLSHAM, NORFOLK
TYPE // EDUCATION
Aylsham High School approached us to assist them with turning the redundant dining area and adjacent office into a new Applied Learning Centre.
The works included a complete refurbishment of the existing spaces to provide 2 classrooms for approx. 20 students each which can be opened up via a folding partition to provide one large conference / teaching space. The existing office space was turned into a printing business area, which has its own reception and connects to the teaching spaces via a glazed partition and new doorway.
The design ethos was to ensure the ‘centre’ was to have its own identity and provide a contemporary business atmosphere whilst still being robust for the school environment. It needed to both attract students to the course and allow integration of students from different schools. It was also seen as an opportunity to develop an identity future diploma teaching areas proposed in the school.
Aylsham High School are now using this space to full effect, and are very happy with the results. We subsequently worked with them on other projects.
